Diet and exercise sometimes do little to eliminate unwanted fat and loose skin in the abdominal area. If you are bothered by these appearance problems, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) may be a good choice for you. Abdominoplasty is performed to rid a person of excess skin and to tighten the weak abdominal wall muscles. This is frequently present in women following childbirth.
The procedure can be done as an outpatient or inpatient and sometimes can be done as a mini-abdominoplasty, which works mainly on the lower portion of the abdomen. Recovery period is anywhere from 14-21 days, depending on the extent of the procedure and the tightening of the abdominal wall musculature. Liposuction and body contouring can also be performed at the time of this surgery.
Dr. Medalie typically performs Tummy Tuck as an outpatient procedure.

Now among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction (also known as “lipoplasty” or “suction lipectomy”) sculpts the body by removing undesirable fat from areas around the thighs, knees, buttocks, waist, hips, abdomen, chin, cheeks, neck and upper arms.
Liposuction is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, but the procedure can eliminate areas of fat that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods, and improve body contour.
Dr. Medalie typically performs liposuction as an outpatient procedure. He specializes in body sculpting, “tumescent liposuction”, “super-wet liposuction” and ultrasonic liposuction.

Post Bariatric (Weight Loss Surgery) in Cleveland, Ohio
Morbidly obese patients are finding bariatric surgery the preferred treatment option. More than 100,000 patients had bariatric surgery in 2003. Patients who undergo bariatric surgery typically lose an excess of 100 pounds, but most patients experience the unpleasant fact that as the fat rapidly dissolves, the excess skin mostly stays. Plastic surgeons have begun to offer comprehensive treatment plans for these post weight loss patients, including tightening of the skin under the arms, breast lifts, panniculectomy (removal of excess abdominal skin) and medial and lateral thigh lifts. Some of these procedures are covered by insurance and can be as life-changing as the initial bypass operation. Dr. Medalie has extensive experience with post bypass body contouring and welcomes patient consultations.

The patient in the pictures below lost 150 pounds and came to Dr. Medalie requesting a tummy tuck and breast lift. During the procedure she underwent an extended abdominoplasty with liposuction and a breast lift with small reduction on the right side. The after pictures are shown 6 weeks post-operatively.

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) in Cleveland, Ohio

Brachioplasty is a surgical recontouring of the arms. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. Excessive skin is removed, sometimes in conjunction with a liposuction procedure to remove fat from the arms. For removal of large amounts of skin, an incision is required that runs from near the elbow to the armpit. The incision is placed in the most inconspicuous location (inner arm toward the back), but some scarring will always be visible. More moderate skin removal is sometimes possible with a smaller incision which is limited to the armpit area to try to keep the scar better hidden.

Labiaplasty, Vaginoplasty, Hoodectomy- What’s the difference?
Before you begin navigating through this site or surfing the web, its important to know what procedure you are looking for. Depending on your need, there are three common procedures performed to the vulva.
Labiaplasty: For women that experience discomfort when wearing tight pants or exercising or feel embarassement about the size of their labia, labiaplasty surgery (also known as labia minora reduction or labioplasty) is the right procedure.
Vaginoplasty: After childbirth, or as women age, their vagina can become, in popular terms, “loose.” Vaginoplasty, also known as vaginaplasty or “vaginal rejuvination”, is popular for tightening the vagina or improving sexual experience.
Hoodectomy, also known as “clitoral unhooding” is the right procedure for women that have difficulty acheiving orgasm due to extra skin surrounding their clitoris.
